Rain, Rain and More Rain ☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️

Well, here I am with my bi-annual post. I REALLY want to be more regular and I know I say that every time I write on my bog... Blah blah blah. You can't make me feel the guilt... I'm on antidepressants and I no longer feel guilty about anything.

The last time I wrote, Pinterest was barely a "thang" but here I am referring to one of my new best friends... Pinterest. Where have you been all my life???? Thank goodness you haven't been around or else I would NEVER have gotten anything done and I wouldn't have any money. I will refer to her as a female, for all intense purposes. She is a bitch but so am I. Dont get upset, it's a term of endearment, in my world and those who surround themselves with moi!

My cousin and dear friend, Susie has encouraged me to start posting pics of my work that I create so that I can apply for design teams and get free stuff for card making and scrapbook page acreations. I'm going to give it a shot. Wish me luck. Also, I am going to start "peddling" my cards to local retailers to sell so I can contribute to the household income.

Back to the weather (Uh, remember my title "Rain, Rain and More Rain"????)
Between yesterday and today, we have probably had 3+ inches of rain. I know "April showers bring May flowers" but holy cow! It was a sunny this morning as it could be and then, without warning, another downpour. I opened up the house to let the pollen in (wishing for fresh air) and to cool things down. Our air conditioner has been on the fritz for 2 weeks and our homeowners insurance is using their usual delay tactics before they fix it. Note to them: we will wait for you lame brains to fix it! So it was pouring down rain in our house. Oh well, floors can be dried. I was scheduled to pick a friend up at the airport at 3:00 this afternoon and his flight has already been delayed for 2 hours. It will probably be delayed a lot longer than that but I will always have the cell phone lot, my iPad and my new best friend, Pinterest!

So here I am, waiting for another rain delay from flight status on the USAirways website. I always feel like I'm in Limbo when I am sitting around, waiting to go somewhere. I'm always afraid to commit to something when I have plans later in the day. There are a couple of reasons for those:
1) Once I start a project, I really need to finish it or it may NEVER be completed.
2) This is basically due to my ADHD-ness

So I'm accomplishing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING again, watching recorded episodes of "Mike and Molly", "Bones" and this morning's Today Show. I have taken occasional breaks to work on organizing my craft studio (aka bonus room) and doing laundry. So, in truth, I have done something other than watch tv today... Meh!

Here's what's going on up here:

Well... Forget that. I was going to share a pic of my "studio" so you can see what a wreck it is but can't figure out how to add my picture. Stay tuned....

Christmas is Over, Where Did It Go?

The new year has brought some interesting weather to our little hamlet of Cornelius. It has been unseasonably cold which has been a blessing given my recent history of hot flashes. I was told that alcohol does everything but reduce the frequency and intensity of my hormonal "lady-condition". Hell, I see commercials for ED and whatever "syndrome" they have on the hour on tv now. I was embarrassed, more like MORTIFIED by Kotex commercials when I was old enough to know what that was. How in the world did we get where we are now????? I think maybe that lawyers have something to do with the direction we are headed in.
Anywho, the snow (they said) started around 4:00AM Monday morning. Well, I KNOW for a fact that it had started before then because I was up at 4:30AM and there was already at least 2 inches accumulated here at home. This is my kind of weather! I stay in my jammies all day long and cook, clean and organize areas of my house while Olivia runs in and out all day long. And of course, she expects hot chocolate and soup ready and waiting upon every return. I made 2 very large pots of soup and the first, chicken noodle is already gone (which I consider a testimony to my success). The Split Pea soup pot was emptied into a large container and refrigerated for tomorrow's menu. This was one of my best batches ever. It's amazing what a difference dried rosemary makes.
I am sorry to say that my stint at Williams-Sonoma may be slowly coming to an end. I only have 4 hours this week and no hours next week. It may only be due to the impending post-Christmas lull in retail but time will tell. It's a really fun job and the time goes by so fast.
Olivia returns to school tomorrow on a two-hour delay. Mckenna has been here since Sunday night and the two girls have had a blast. It's been a pleasure having her here.
Sorry I have been negligent in my responsibility to write in my so-called "journal" (wink-wink, nudge, nudge). I would promised to do better, but I know who I'm dealing with....!

Let's Get Serious

I'm only saying that because it's been so long since I have posted anything that I didn't even remember setting this up 3+ years ago until I tried to set up a blog on the SAME website. That's a real "Been thar, done that, got the t-shirt", good buddy.
Anywho, here I am watching an array of brain dead TV shows that rate from tolerable to occasionally funny to hilarious. I am all for this "genre" of show availabilities. I have learned over the years that every one's brain needs a break on a regular basis. I was working several years ago as a sales rep, drove around all day long, I was a single mom with a baby and I was serving on 3 Boards of Directors, one of which I was the secretary and treasurer. (Yawn!) I couldn't remember how to get to the next town. It was only 3 miles and 1 exit away on the interstate. I thought I had Alzheimer's Disease and my doctor diagnosed me with "brain overload"... too much going on in there. I resigned from all the Boards I was on but the one I enjoyed the most. So I rest my brain every chance I get. I hope this practice extends my life.

Our air conditioning is on the blink and the part(s) will come be in between 2 and 10 days. It's warm outside but the back doors are open and the fan is on. It's tolerable now but may not be later. Either way, we will survive. Funny how my husband goes out of town when this happens. All I've got to say is thank goodness for home warranties!

Since today is the first day of September, my thoughts are all about Fall, my favorite season. I told my husband on Saturday night that I couldn't wait until I had to wear a (heavy) coat again. The hot flashes along with a combination of medications amplify the extreme temperatures we have had this summer.
Anyway, stay with me...
I am keeping a close eye out for additional pieces of a set of dishes that I started to collect: Westbourne by Spode. They are a very "Fall-ish" set of transferware that were offered by Williams Sonoma several ago. I think it's a little too early to put out the plethora of turkeys and assorted other Thanksgiving appointments. But I have been pondering my Christmas Village set-up schedule. A friend suggested that I start soon after Labor Day. I AM good at over-committing. It's a woman thang...

The kitchen is a disaster and I have spent all of my waking hours avoiding it. I think I all but finished our Christmas shopping yesterday after an extended visits to different Tuesday Morning locations. I have come to the conclusion that we all have too much "stuff", as George Carlin called it. I don't want to draw names anymore. I don't want anything from anybody except from my daughter. If she would just start cleaning up after herself, follow the custom-designed schedule I have written for her and stop conducting science experiments in our kitchen. I have only selected the most well-thought out, perfectly appropriate gifts for a select few. I prefer to give than receive.

After a phone call this afternoon from my friend and fellow bitch, Tracy, Friday (otherwise known as "Girlfriend Day") will result in a very fun trip with Tracy, Tina and yours truly to the local fairgrounds for the "Antiques and Collectibles" show after an early morning, private viewing of the chick flick "The Sweetest Thing". Hopefully everything will pan out as scheduled. Stay tuned...
